Working with ALTWOOD(R)

Similar to any other outdoor building material (concrete, steel, wood...), ALTWOOD® is subject to thermal expansion/contraction. If the entire project is built with our material, thermal expansion is not as critical an issue since the entire project will expand and contract at approximately the same rate.

In some applications where our material is used in conjunction with other material such as steel, concrete or wood, it may be necessary to allow for the difference in expansion factor. The linear thermal expansion of our material per 10 degrees Celsius in temperature variation is approximately 0.1 %. See Technical Specifications: Linear Thermal Expansion for more information.

PLEASE NOTE: Unlike wood or wood/polymer blends, the dimensions of ALTWOOD® do not vary with moisture content.
